To reduce air pollution in cities, the use of electric vehicles must be encouraged, Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar has said.
Addressing a webinar on clean air on Monday, he said that the country had migrated to BS-VI standards and quality petrol and diesel were provided, which was an important initiative to fight pollution.
The States must now work with city-specific plans, as every city had a different source of pollution. Brick kilns in various States should adopt zig-zag technology to reduce pollution. Above all, people participation was a must to clean the air. Car-pooling and use of public transport must be promoted, he said.
