Maruti Suzuki India Limited has posted total sales of 1,24,624 units in August 2020, registering a growth of 21.3 per cent, the highest growth for the past two years and 17.1 per cent over the corresponding period in 2019. Total sales include domestic sales of 115,325 units. In addition, the company exported 7,920 units in August 2020, a drop of 15.3 per cent over the corresponding period in 2019.
Growing demand from rural markets and shift from public transport to private car usage are the main factors for recovery in sales, the company said.
The company dispatched a total of 1,13,033 domestic passenger vehicles from its factory last month, against 93,173 units in August 2019.
Overall domestic sale includes that of its small commercial vehicle, Super Carry van, which was higher by 20.2 per cent at 116,704 units. Dip in exports brought down the growth of its overall sales in August to 17.1 per cent.
