The Northern Railways has been converting Rohtak-Gohana Railway line into a 4.8 km long elevated track to ease traffic congestion in Rohtak city. The work was almost complete and would be commissioned in next three months.
This line, which was running through heart of the city, has four level crossings within the town limit. The town faced heavy traffic congestions owing to frequent closure of gates at level crossings. It also jeopardised movement of rail traffic, compromising safety and speed of trains and inconvenienced the road users.
The elevated track would eliminate all the four level crossings providing big relief to residents of Rohtak. With the commissioning of the elevated tack, speed of trains in this section will also be increased.
The Railways and the Haryana state government have invested Rs.315 crore for implementing the project.
