Torrential showers continued to lash Mumbai, Thane and other parts of Maharashtra for the third day on Sunday. Rainwater flooded low-lying areas of Mumbai City. Hindmata in Central Mumbai and Chembur in eastern suburbs were inundated. Age-old trees were uprooted on prime roads and traffic was disrupted in many areas owing to water logging in the city. Heavy rain was recorded in Thane and Sindhudurg and nearby areas and Vidarbha region experienced moderate rain.
The weather forecast is that there will be intermittent showers in the city and moderate to heavy rain in suburban areas in the next 24 hours. Thunderstorm with lightning is likely at isolated places in this region, according to India Meteorological Department. South Mumbai recorded 129.6 mm rain in the 24 hours and Santacruz recorded 200.8 mm rain. The maximum and minimum temperature will be around 27 degree C and 24 degree C respectively. the IMD added.
