Reliance Industries’ Reliance Jio has launched a video conferencing app JioMeet, aiming to take on rivals Zoom, Google Meet, Skype and Microsoft and others. It has offered unlimited free calls.
This app is available on Google Play Store and App Store for download. It can be accessed both from web and mobile. At a time, 100 participants can communicate in a single call free of cost. The app is available in Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and web.
The company said that the app supports HD audio and video calls and offers features like screen sharing, meeting schedule feature and more. It has some more interesting features than the Zoom app. It does not impose any time limit. Calls can go uninterrupted up to 24 hours. All meetings are encrypted and password-protected. The app allows national and international seminars as well as hosting of cultural and social events.
It has Safe Driving Mode which is equal to the “Do Not Disturb” feature in phones. The “Waiting Room” facility prevents participants from joining the meeting without permission. Multi-device support (one can log in up to five devices simultaneously using a single ID), simple interface, creation of instant meeting are some of the special features.
Signing up to start a meeting is very easy. Entering your mobile number, name, email ID would suffice. There is no need to create an account or log in to start a meeting. One can schedule a meeting and share meeting code with participants. Like Zoom, it has a screen sharing option also. With multi-device support, one can switch from one to another while on call. This app has been already downloaded by more than one lakh users.
